Weeks of auditions finally come to an end as the final ten have been picked for the eighth edition of Nigerian Idol. The contestants who survived the auditions down to the final cut have proved to the judges – Simi, Obi Asika, and D’banj, that they are ones to be looked out for.
Based on their performances from the auditions down to the end of the theatre week, here are the top 10 Nigerian Idol contestants who will be moving to the next round, and here is all you need to know about them.
Precious Mac
The Mac sisters have become famous in the music competition space for their powerful vocals. So when Precious Mac came in to audition for the Nigerian Idol Season 8, we were prepared for excellence.
The 22-year-old recording artiste and songwriter made it to the top 10 spots with her rendition of Simi’s Ayo. Since she started singing, Precious has released multiple projects, including ‘Shades of Purple’ and ‘Feelings’. Precious is also in an all-female band, Coloz Band Angel, where she performs as a lead vocalist.
Constance Olatunde
As soon as Constance entered the audition hall, Simi recognised her, she had released a cover of Simi’s song in the past. In the same vein, she has done that for multiple artistes like Magixx, Asake, Ayra Starr, and many more, covers which have earned her access to some of Nigeria’s biggest stars.
Tiwa Savage even called her the next big thing. The 17-year-old music star is a singer whose covers of songs on social media have earned a huge following. She emerged as part of the top 10 finalists with her performance of Ariana Grande’s Position.
Abraham
With his experience in the choir, he has honed his skills as a singer while building his stage presence and confidence. The 28-year-old health coach and nurse who hails from Bayelsa since his auditions had showcased his vocal control and range with his song choices. His fate was sealed as soon as he gave an outstanding performance of Chris Brown’s ‘Under The Influence’.
Ose Daniel
Ose Daniel is confident in his voice and performance skills. His unique rendition of Adekunle Gold’s ‘Catch Me If You Can’ at the Theatre Week did not only earn him a spot on the live shows but put him out there as one of the top contenders for this season.
The 24-year-old singer with his experience as a competitor in numerous singing competitions has helped him hold his ground among the talents.
Savy Henry
Savy Henry loves love songs. Since he started making music in 2016, a majority of his tracks, including On The Radio, All I Want, The Best Part, This Is How I Feel, and many more had a dominant theme, Love.
So when the 27-year-old recording artiste and songwriter decided to show his range by slaying his rendition of Davido’s ‘Fem’, we knew his prior experience on the seventh season of Nigerian Idol had given him the confidence to explore, and it worked for him.
Reigney
Reigney can be as cool as she can flex her vocals. The worship minister, who is not afraid to express herself with her vocals and movements made it to the final ten lists with her performance of Summer Walkers’ ‘Karma’. But even before then the 30-year-old singer had proven herself to be worthy of the spot.
Quest
When Quest sang Rihanna’s Lift Me Up at the Theatre Week, she almost secured herself a guaranteed spot at the live shows. The 27-year-old worship leader has strong vocal control and dexterity that allowed her to deliver the final performance that led her to the final 10. She performed Mile Cyrus’ chart-topping single ‘Flowers’.
Victory
Victory might be a lawyer but his experience as the Director of Music at Benson Idahosa University Choir has helped him hone his singing skills. The 25-year-old singer who released a gospel song ‘Sound’ before his auditions had captivated the judges from the auditions with his rendition of Bruno Mars’ ‘Just The Way You Are’.
Chisom
For ardent watchers of Nigerian Idol, no one can miss Chisom’s face as he was one of the contestants who made it to theatre week before he was dropped from the show. The 22-year-old contestant is back, and he secured a spot in the top 10 with an astounding performance of Sam Smith and Kim Petras ‘Unholy.’
Goodness
At the auditions, it seemed like Goodness was not going to make it past that moment because of her nerves. Weeks later, she has proved both herself and the audience wrong as she advances to the next stage after her performance of Lizzo’s ‘About Damn Time.’
