During the BBNaija Level Up season in 2022, fans constantly debated how Phyna owed Beauty some form of loyalty and why she shouldn’t have moved to her ex-partner at the time, Groovy, following Beauty’s disqualification from the show. Although the issue didn’t seem like a big deal to the parties involved, the viewers and the housemates were quite uncomfortable with the situation and did not hesitate to state their reasons.
On this episode of the BBNaija Level Up reunion, Beauty, Phyna, and Groovy got to tell their stories one year outside the house, and it seemed the housemates have moved on from their situation.
Here are some of the highlights from the episode.
Beauty Apologises
Anybody who followed the Level Up season knows Beauty was not the best when she was angry, and this led her to body shame Groovy and had a hand in their eventual breakup. So when she admitted that she was sorry for her actions and owned up to the fact that her disqualification was her own problem, it felt like a chapter of their story had closed.
However, she refused to accept the narrative that she had an alcohol problem and was abusive in the relationship, both narratives Groovy had stood by during this episode.
Phyna Admits Her Mistake
Everyone knew that at one point, Phyna and Beauty had been friends, which is why it was shocking that Phyna had entertained Groovy’s advances. However, unlike the public, Beauty was not mad at Groovy’s relationship with Phyna, but by the fact that Phyna constantly bashed her for no reason and even made a statement that suggested an extremely harmful situation.
When Beauty brought this up as the reason why she decided to keep her distance, Phyna admits her mistake, and Beauty has seemingly moved on from the situation.
Groovy Feels No One Defended Him
Although Groovy might have felt no one was on his side, from the viewers’ point of view, the housemates had been on his side until his relationship with Phyna started. According to Groovy, he was body-shamed and abused, and none of the housemates came to see how he was doing.
For him, that was his bone of contention with Level 2 guys, especially Bryann and Kess.
Bryann States His Truth
Bryann had been very open about how he felt about Groovy in the house. He had mentioned to his face and behind his back that he felt like he was cunning, and he stood by that statement at the reunion. According to Bryann, although he had accepted that people did things differently in the house, he just felt like Groovy was sneaky.
He also cleared the air about nobody defending Groovy as he reiterated that on multiple occasions he had spoken with both parties and told them to keep people out of their business.
Kess’ Instigation Caused Irreparable Damage
Although Phyna is known to be hot-tempered and quick to insults, Kess’ untrue narrative where he told Phyna about Beauty’s feelings towards her relationship with Groovy was the beginning of Phyna’s resolution to finally go through with her relationship with Groovy.
Groovy also revealed that Kess had told him that if he was the one in the relationship Beauty would have not been disqualified. Considering that both parties are adults, it made sense that Groovy was upset by the statement.
