Burna Boy has made history. Six months after the tickets for his London Stadium were put up for sale, the Grammy-winning artiste on Saturday, June 3, 2023, sold out the 80,000-Capacity Stadium thereby making history as the first African artiste to solo headline a UK stadium.
Known for his electrifying performance, incredible song arrangement, discography, and stage presence, the music star who came on stage at 8:50 pm and performed for two hours alongside international acts like JHus, Stormzy, Dave, and more. He did all this while introducing fans to unreleased singles, including a single where he featured on JHus’ highly anticipated album ‘Don’t Say Militancy.’
Before he sold out the concert, he had revealed in an interview with the London Stadium that he would be making history, and history did he make.
“London Stadium is going to be my fairground! I’ve been told that I couldn’t achieve anything because of where I came from. I hope this can show people that when you have a dream it doesn’t matter where you’ve come from, your dream can come true. This is going to be legendary, it’s history and I can’t wait for you all to be a part of that,” he said.
In the past year, the music star has not only sold out a stadium and made history at Arena’s in London, but he also made history when he sold out the 40,000-capacity La Defense Arena in Paris on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
The music star, who released a new single, ‘Sittin On Top Of The World,’ sampling Brandy’s 1998 hit single ‘Top Of The World,’ started to reach international acclaim after his hit 2018 single ‘Ye’ blew up in the international scene.
Since then, the music star has released highly acclaimed albums like African Giant, Twice As Tall, and Love Damini, albums which have earned him international awards, including the coveted Grammy Awards. From the rookie who broke into the music industry with his 2012 single ‘Like To Party, to the legend setting new boundaries and making history, Burna Boy has come a long way.
