Police have seized a number of items following the search of a reservoir in Portugal during the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
German prosecutors confirmed that the items will be evaluated but said it was too early to be sure if they were linked to the child's disappearance.
"A previously precisely defined area along the reservoir was completely searched for possible evidence," they said in a statement.

"A number of items were seized as part of the operation. These will be evaluated in the coming days and weeks.
"It is not yet possible to say whether some of the items are actually related to the Madeleine McCann case."
