Teachers at a NSW school raised concerns about the bus driver involved in the Hunter Valley crash, alleging he had a "lack of attention" while he was driving students on an excursion last week, just days before the wedding tragedy.

Green Point Christian College, on the Central Coast, sent a letter to parents confirming Brett Andrew Button, 58, drove a bus of Year 5 students to Bathurst and back last Thursday and Friday.

Button's alleged conduct at the wheel led teachers to raise concerns about his driving.

Brett Andrew Button was granted bail after a brief court appearance over the Greta crash that claimed 10 lives.

Principal Phillip Nash told 9News the concerns about Button were that he was "often chatting to teachers" instead of concentrating on the road.

"On the trip to Bathurst our teachers raised concerns about the driver and reported them at the end of the trip as per our usual procedures," Nash wrote in the letter to parents.

"We ask staff to report anything of concern or anything inadequate in regard to the bus and or the driver.

"Their concerns were not such that they felt they needed to contact us on the trip, however."

The school has since reported the matter to bus company Linq. The information has also been given to police investigating the Hunter Valley tragedy.

Police have confirmed they have received a letter of complaint.

It is expected the teachers who were on the bus on the school trip will be interviewed.

Button is facing 11 charges from Sunday night's Hunter Valley crash, including 10 charges of dangerous driving causing death relating to each victim and one of negligent driving.

He appeared before Cessnock Local Court yesterday, where a magistrate imposed strict bail conditions.

In a statement to 9News, Linq said it only learned of the concerns today.

"We have been made aware by the media of a letter from Green Point Christian College sent to its students parents," the statement read.

"The concerns raised in the letter had not been brought to our attention until today.

"We have received no other complaints about Mr Button before receipt of that letter.

"As with all of our drivers, Mr Button was only engaged after he passed an independent driver assessment, and his references were checked.

"It would be inappropriate for us to comment any further."
