The street was sent into lockdown while heavily armed police negotiated with the accused gunman, who eventually handed himself over after a four-hour standoff.

The man faced Adelaide Magistrates' Court on Monday but a secrecy order was imposed preventing the media from identifying him.

He appeared at court handcuffed after being held in custody since his arrest on Saturday.

The man has since been charged with the murder of Aleksandra and the attempted murder of Daniela.

The alleged gunman didn't apply for bail on Monday.

He will stay in custody until at least October.

Neighbours have recounted the horror details of Saturday's shooting, including how one man rushed to help the women while the accused shooter was still on the scene.

"To jump in and help in the first place, especially once he knew that (the accused) was still standing just metres away with an armed gun but he said, 'Once you start CPR, you don't stop'," a neighbour said.

Flowers have been laid by shocked community members at the driveway of the Campbelltown home where the pair were shot.

Neighbours have remembered Aleksandra as a lovely, kind woman.

She worked for the University of South Australia as an executive assistant.

The university released a statement today, saying: "The UniSA community has been shocked and saddened.

"She was a highly respected colleague and will be greatly missed."

Daniela remains in hospital in a stable condition.
