Edmonton Oilers are splendid when behind the other team’s blueline. Behind their own? Not so much

Last time around I waxed ecstatic about the state of the Edmonton Oilers’ offence, which was by some distance the best in the NHL in 2022-23. To recap: the Oilers scored 325 goals, 24 more than any other team, while leading the league in both powerplay goals and shorthanded goals, a first in franchise history.
