Police are treating a horror crash in Queensland where three people were killed as a suspected domestic violence incident, with the only known survivor under police guard in hospital.
Rafferty Rolfe, 25, is being investigated for his involvement in the crash with two other cars in the southbound lane of the Bruce Highway at Federal, west of Noosa, at 4am.
Rolfe was tonight charged over the alleged armed robbery of a white Isuzu MU-X that was involved in the crash.
Hours after it was stolen, the Isuzu was seen trying to ram a silver Nissan Navara carrying 25-year-old Gypsy Satterley, who police have confirmed was in a relationship with Rofle, and a 65-year-old male driver.

Police have not yet confirmed whether Rolfe was driving the Isuzu.
The Isuzu and Navara crossed the road and collided with a third vehicle, a Great Wall ute, with 38-year-old alpaca farmer Jessica Townley inside.
Satterley, Townley and the 65-year-old man were killed instantly.
"This is devastating for them and the first responders who've attended this location," Detective Inspector Ben Fadian said.
"The tragedy is there's three people now deceased, and the ripple effect that has on their families."
Police say Rolfe was found "in the vicinity" of the Isuzu and was taken to hospital suffering a head wound, where he remains under police guard.
Fadian confirmed Rolfe was known to police.
The Isuzu had allegedly been stolen almost 12 hours earlier from Young Street in Gympie, about 30km from the crash.
Bec Alexander was leaving the shops with her three children when a man allegedly approached the car with a knife and demanded the vehicle.
She complied, getting her kids out of the car before he drove off.
Alexander posted to Facebook: "I was carjacked with three kids in the car. A knife was pulled so the kids and I got out but my car was stolen! Can everyone please keep an eye out."
Police tried to pursue the car but it got away.
"Police received reports of that vehicle driving erratically after that," Fadian said.
The next confirmed sighting of the Isuzu was on the Bruce Highway at 4am when the fatal crash occurred.
One witness told Today she had driven past the collision moments after it occurred.
"We just saw this car completely just squished up against the concrete, between the two different lanes," she said.
Rolfe has been charged with one count of robbery with violence whilst armed.
He is scheduled to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.
