Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has stated that if the February 2023 election was free and fair, Nigerians would have moved on to making other demands from the government.
Yesufu lamented that it is unfair to expect Nigerians to move on despite the discrepancies during the election.
She argued that the normal expectation of Nigerians to move on after an unfair election has been conducted is what has held the country back for years.
The activist urged the citizenry to ignore those mocking them and stick to their beliefs, adding that it is high time to consider mockery as a way of life.
Speaking via Twitter, she wrote “If the February 2023 election was free, fair, credible, transparent with none of all the data integrity issues and the violence, suppression and the results were as was declared by INEC, we would have all moved onto governance and focus on making demands for good governance, accountability and transparency but to expect people to move on from such travesty or for the people to be mocked because they refuse to move on is the Nigerian thing that has held us back over the generations and I pray this is the time we break away from it and stay on no matter what jibe is thrown. We are already a mockery of a nation and should consider being mocked as a way of life.”
