The Big Brother All Stars have been giving us the drama we signed up for; ships sailing and sinking, rivals having a go at each other, and even besties remaining loyal to their alliances. But in the past two weeks, competition has become unhealthy and the housemates have simply been acting out of order.

It all began with Pere almost completely losing his temper in an argument with Adekunle and even threatening violence against Adekunle outside the house. A few days later, Ike schemed along with Pere and Seyi and threw Ilebaye’s clothes on the bathroom floor in an act of revenge according to him. The final straw of toxicity came when Seyi made some offensive and misogynistic comments during aconversation with another housemate.

All these scenarios left a sour taste in viewers’ mouths and painted some of the housemates in a terrible light, but Big Brother is stepping in to help the housemates retrace their steps and make amends in areas where they have goofed.

As a disciplinary measure, Big Brother played the footage of Ike conspiring with Pere and Seyi to throw Ilebaye’s clothes on the bathroom floor for all the housemates to see. That action from Biggie helped reduce the tension in the house a bit as the housemates had been utterly confused about who would have done such a thing and why. He also gave Ike a strike for his destructive behaviour, even though viewers are saying he deserved more.

It has also been observed that Pere has been strangely quiet and reserved after the faceoff with Adekunle. Many housemates see him as a bully in the house because of what they described as his style of playing the game which they believe is ungentlemanly. During Frodd’s diary session last week, he had specifically mentioned Pere’s attitude in the house to Biggie which he said left him disappointed. After his diary session on Tuesday night where he appeared broken after Biggie’s words which have helped to keep him in check. Although he was still seen trying to justify some of his actions during the diary session, it will not be out of place to say he left the diary room with a different mindset.

As regards Seyi, a lot of viewers were hoping and even certain that he would be evicted on account of the comments he made last Sunday, and many were shocked that he was not in the bottom two where he has apeared consistently in the first two eviction nights but got saved by the jury members.

Biggie’s measures towards damage control however have been very effective. Pere, Seyi, and Ike all apologised to the housemates collectively, and some individually. We also saw how Doyin, Ilebaye and Cross left the diary room refreshed with a different perspective about their friendships.

Addressing the negative energy in the house, Big Brother brought in a therapist twice to sprinkle some positivity in the house by talking to the housemates about happiness and helping them meditate to get them in a better mental state. After the first group therapy session, the therapist gave each of the housemates a gratitude journal which they were to fill with various things they were grateful for. They were also given a task where they were to randomly pick a housemate to perform an act of kindness towards, and everyone seems to be practising the task. From Adekunle having a heart to heart conversation with TolaniBaj to Prince giving Alex a massage when she was unwell.

From all of this, we can say that Big Brother really has been the big brother the housemates needed to restore sanity and positivity in the house.
