Security footage has captured the moment a popular pizza bar in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs was set alight.

The devastated owners say they have no idea why they’ve been targeted.

Police are hunting those responsible and investigating if a second deliberate blaze is linked.

Dressed in black, five hooded arsonists can be seen lighting Bar 38 in Glenside on fire, and it quickly becomes engulfed in flames.

The blaze was so fierce it took 30 firefighters nearly an hour to bring it under control.

Co-owner Dion Bonifazio said he is “gutted”.

“I just dropped to the floor. We’ve had this business for three years now, we’ve built a community around, so to see everything destroyed like this for a reason we don’t know is quite upsetting,” he said.

Dion’s sister Claudia Bonifazio, who won reality TV show Love Island Australia, called for support for her brother, saying the restaurant’s been in the family for years.

The damage bill is estimated to be $200,000, and fire crews say it could have been $2 million if it hadn’t been brought under control.

The owners don’t have insurance.

Neighbouring businesses on Greenhill Road were badly damaged too.

An hour after the restaurant went up in flames a Subaru was found torched at Osborne.

Police say it was stolen from Lightsview earlier this month and they’re investigating if the two fires are linked.
