Burna Boy has set a new record at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards as he becomes the most nominated African act at the award show with seven nominations. The award organisers announced the full nominees list on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
The Grammy-winning artiste, who is the 4th most nominated artiste after Cardi B, 21 Savage, and Drake, got nominated in the category for Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, and Hustler of the Year. He was also nominated in the Song of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Collaboration category for his hit single, ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ ft 21 Savage.
Three weeks ago on August 24, 2023, the music star released his seventh studio album, ‘I Told Them.’ He set a new record as the first African act to debut two songs on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 chart in a single calendar year with ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ finally debuted at No. 80 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also became the first-ever international African artist to earn the No. 1 spot on the official weekly UK album chart.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards will be held in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
