Nigeria Unveils Programme of Activities for 63rd Independence Anniversary

Nigeria’s federal government has announced the proposed activities for the 63rd Independence Anniversary celebration.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, announced this on Thursday, at the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the 63rd Independence Anniversary.

The activities would begin on September 25, with a World Press Briefing, followed by a Symposium/ Public Lecture on September 28 and a Jummat Service on September 29.

In addition, there would be a Church Service on October 1 and a Presidential Broadcast also on October 1. The activities would climax on October 2 with a parade.

The committee inaugurated has the Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of Interior, Minister of Finance, Minister of FCT, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Security Adviser, Inspector-General of Police, and DG DSS as members.

Others were the Permanent secretaries GSO, SSO, Ecological Project Office, PEAO and Ministry of Health.

Akume, said the terms of reference of each sub-committee and list of members would be sent by the secretariat while the sub-committee secretaries would present their budgets for consideration and approval as soon as possible.
