Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to the confirmation of Yemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Naija News reported that the Senate, under the leadership of Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the apex bank.
Cardoso was screened alongside four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors to steer the affairs of the apex bank for the next five years.
The deputy governors include Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
Recall that last week, Cardoso resumed as the CBN governor in an acting capacity pending his screening and expected confirmation by the Senate.
Reacting to the development in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, Sani said Nigerians expect much from the new CBN Governor to rescue the national currency, reset the monetary policy and depoliticise the institution.
The former lawmaker also urged Cardoso to avoid political rice farmers, fake pyramids, forex sponges and banking parasites.
He wrote: “Much expectation from the new CBN Governor Cardoso to rescue our National Currency, reset the monetary policy and depoliticise the institution. Avoid political rice farmers, fake pyramids, forex Sponges and banking parasites.”
