The Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Bayelsa, Udengs Eradiri, has accused the other candidates of funding their campaigns off of embezzled government funds.
Eradiri said this on Wednesady, in an interview with ARISE NEWS.
He said “So far so good, we are moving. We don’t have the kind of money they have but I am not afraid of them because all of them are using Government stolen money.
“But me, I am doing it the best way I can and the people are beginning to resonate with the message I carry.”
Reacting to the claims that he is part of the elite class, following his last position in the NDDC and will not do anything different, the LP Candidate asked that his antecedents be verified as he always delivers on his job.
“If I didn’t go and participate in government, the first thing that people will be talking about is that he doesn’t have experience. Now I have participated and they are now saying that I am part of the block.
“Go and check the positions that I held and see how I dispensed the authority. That is what is important.
“In NDDC, I was the special assistant to the interim administrator and for me, I didn’t get myself involved. I wasn’t in the authority or position to dispense resources. I had my job description cut out for me and I dealt with it and if I failed, point out that when I was in office, I was supposed to do x,y,z and I didn’t do it.”
Speaking on the issues that the state is currently facing and how he intends to tackle it, Udengs mentioned the poor state of the educational system, adding that there is need to introduce information technology that would keep the people interested.
“40% of our population in Bayelsa are young people and the greatest problems we have here is the issue of education. A lot of our young people are dropping out of school because the school environments are not conducive enough and also the style of education in our state.
“Our educational method is obsolete. We need to bring in information technology into our educational space so that people will begin to be interested.”
On the issue of Constant flooding, Udengs also said he would employ the Bayelsa dredging company to help tackle the issue in the affected communities.
“We will revive the Bayelsa dredging company in Baylesa and use that company to begin to dredge most of the communities. If you dredge an arc round the community and put a canal by the end of those sand fills, you would have stopped the water that comes from behind.”
