Super Eagles top striker, Victor Osimhen, will undergo a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan following an injury he sustained when Nigeria played against Saudi Arabia in Portugal on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Naija News reports that the Super Eagles of Nigeria drew with Saudi Arabia in the international friendly that was keenly played at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão.
The match ended with both sides scoring two goals to seal a draw.
Osimhen, however, was brought out of the field in the 55th minute of the encounter after sustaining an injury. Terem Moffi subsequently replaced him.
It has now been revealed that due to the injury, the 24-year-old remains doubtful for the Super Eagles’ next friendly against the Mambas of Mozambique on Monday.
Super Eagles Head coach, Jose Peseiro, confirmed in his post-match interview that the Napoli hitman will undergo a scan on Monday to ascertain the severity of the injury.
“At this moment, it is my opinion, will I go and put in a player with an injury? A month’s injury, or even two? It is better to put it in his mind now,” Peseiro said during his interaction with the media after the game.
He added: “He is going to do the test, check, and if it doesn’t improve, you must expect the club [to make the final decisions], the club pays the salary for him. Not only for Osimhen but for our players.”
