For the first time since releasing her highly acclaimed EP ‘Crazy Things,’ Tems has released a solo single, ‘Me & U’ alongside its visuals, which she directed herself.

The single, produced and co-written by Guilty Beatz, is a track from her forthcoming debut album. ‘Me & U’ speaks to her relationship with her faith.

She had revealed this in response to a fan on Twitter who had insinuated that her cover art was reminiscent of Oshun. Tems clarified that it was about her Christian faith and how Jesus had taught her to walk on water.

“It’s about Jesus Christ teaching me how to walk on water, to trust him and not in human understanding. He changed my life, and if you seek him, he will fill you up too,” she tweeted in response.

Since her declaration, fans of the music star have been looking forward to the creative direction her new single was going to take. A few minutes after the song’s release, positive reviews have swamped social media. One fan said, “Tems can’t go wrong with those harmonious vocals. Bags of character in her tone, great power and control are all there. Me & U is that song.”

While many are praising Tems for the message behind her new single, some are speaking about her directorial debut. One fan said, “The cinematography of Tems’ Me & U is so wicked.”

Between the release of her EP ‘Crazy Things’ and her new solo single ‘Me & U,’ Tems has broken and set numerous records. Within that time frame, she earned three Grammy nominations with songwriting credit on Beyonce’s highly acclaimed album ‘Renaissance,’ and she went on to get her first Grammy in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category with a feature on Future and Drake’s single ‘Wait For U.’
