As the leaves fall and the temperature cools, many Canadians' eyes are already on the holidays. However, a new Quebec winter forecast for 2024-2025 promises anything but a calm, cozy December.

According to the full 2024-2025 predictions from The Farmers' Almanac, which are reserved for members, winter weather in Quebec will arrive in full force this year, unleashing a chaotic mix of snow, freezing rain, and icy winds right from the start.

So, if you're hoping for a gentle lead-in to winter, think again! December's weather is set to bring plenty of storm systems and plunging temperatures, making the month one to remember (and prepare for).

From intense snowfall to freezing rain storms, it seems Quebecers can expect just about every winter surprise. Here's the day-to-day lowdown on what this wild winter forecast might look like from November to the end of December.

Quebec's November forecast

4th - 7th Clear skies, crisp air, then turns milder.

8th - 11th Rapid temperature changes accompany an intensifying storm moving east: Expect a heavy dose of rain or wet snow. Then turning decidedly colder.

16th - 19th Wet snow for Quebec, with up to 30 cm over the Laurentians.

20th - 23rd Dry and cold.

24th - 27th Wet weather arrives with fast-moving front.

28th - 30th Storm hugs the Atlantic Coast, bringing increasing winds and copious precipitation.

Quebec's December forecast

1st - 3rd Lots of clouds, with showers of rain and wet snow, followed by clear and cold weather.

4th - 7th Coastal storm moves along the Atlantic Seaboard, bringing a variety of precipitation types. Cold and snow have often been a long time coming, but this year will be different." In fact, Ouimet noted that the last truly cold December in Quebec was back in 2018.

Will this winter be entirely white in Quebec? That’s still up in the air and largely depends on how La Niña shapes up. La Niña is a natural climate pattern that could either keep Quebec relatively mild with fewer Arctic blasts or bring in a brutal winter if it shifts cold air towards Eastern Canada.

Either way, Ouimet says we could see plenty of snow—or a messy mix of snow, rain, and ice—depending on how the Arctic air flows this season.

With Quebec's winter weather forecast predicting non-stop winter action throughout November and December, this season is set to start with a bang.

So, whether you're preparing for snow days or stocking up on hot chocolate, get ready for a chilly one!

shortcode-Notices-callout]

AI tools may have been used to support the creation or distribution of this content; however, it has been carefully edited and fact-checked by a member of MTL Blog's Editorial team.
