Tottenham Hotspur has appointed former global director of football development at Aston Villa, Johan Lange, as the club’s new sporting director.
According to a statement from Tottenham Hotspur, Large will commence operating in this role from November 1.
The 43-year-old football administrator will replace Italian administrator Fabio Paratici who was the club’s sporting director until FIFA banned him over his involvement in a transfer fee scam while at Juventus.
Johan Lange will be working directly under Tottenham Hotspur’s new Chief football officer Scott Munn.
Lange will “have responsibility for recruitment, analytics, and talent identification across senior and academy teams”, according to a statement from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Danish football administrator has previously worked at FC Copenhagen for ten years first as assistant manager and then as development director as well as technical director.
Munn said, “Johan has demonstrated an excellent track record of scouting and signing many talented and successful youth and senior players. He is a welcome addition as we strengthen our football operations.”
Before he moved to Aston Villa in 2020 where he spent the last three years of his career as a football administrator, Johan Lange spent a brief period at Wolves as assistant manager.
While announcing Lange’s departure, Aston Villa said: “The Club can confirm Johan is leaving his role and departs with the best wishes and gratitude of everyone here for his commitment and service during his time.”
