American boxing legend, Evander Holyfield, has claimed that Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua has all it takes to beat his major British rival Tyson Fury.
Recall that the management of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have been having back and forth over the British heavyweight bout. Unfortunately, they have not been able to reach an agreement.
Fury who is currently the WBC heavyweight champion once claimed that he wouldn’t try to fight Joshua again since it seems the Nigerian-born boxer is scared to hit the ring with him.
Recently, Holyfield, who is now recognized as the third-best boxer of all time, claimed that the British-Nigerian could knockout Fury. He insisted that only Anthony Joshua, not the current world champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has the potential to defeat the Briton heavyweight.
“Joshua is taller than Usyk and they are both strong so then it would come down to speed. I think Anthony Joshua is the perfect fighter for him [Fury] because height-wise, it’s the same. Everything becomes the same when those two fight – it comes down to who’s the strongest”, Holyfield said.
“That looks like it favours Anthony Joshua, but until it happens, it will just be a guessing game.”
The closest Anthony Joshua and Fury had come to fighting each other was in 2010 in Joshua’s Finchley training facility. Then, AJ stunned Fury with an uppercut during a sparring session.
Meanwhile, Power-hitting legend George Foreman said a boxing bout between Joshua and Fury is the fight he would like to see before he gives up on boxing.
He also insisted that only AJ has all it takes to give Fury a tough time in the ring, noting that Fury has all it takes to succeed in any era.
“The one fight I want to see before I close my eyes out of boxing is Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua,” Foreman told talkSPORT.
“Anthony Joshua is the only guy who can give Tyson Fury a terrible fight – a good fight. Right now, Tyson Fury is the best thing going in boxing. But, I love that. Those two guys keep me excited about boxing. That Tyson Fury would have done well in any era. It doesn’t matter who, what, when, or where, he would have done well.”
