Former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has reacted to the announcement made by the Supreme Court regarding the dispute on the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News earlier reported that the apex court fixed Thursday, October 26, to deliver final judgements in petitions filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

The Supreme Court’s Director of Press and Information, Dr Awemeri Festus Akande, on Wednesday, confirmed the date for the ruling on the petitions.

Akande said adequate security arrangements have been implemented to prevent security breaches both within and outside the court premises.

In a post via X, Ben Bruce appealed to all political parties and supporters to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court, which is final regarding the 2023 election.

He said all parties should also shun political rancour, unite and face the task of rescuing the economy, especially the Naira and the damages of the immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

Bruce added that governing must begin in earnest, and Nigerians should no longer be at loggerheads with each other but against insecurity, criminality, economic hardship and disunity.

He wrote: “Whatever the judgment of the Supreme Court tomorrow, I hope that all parties to the election and the appeal accept it because the Supreme Court is final. After tomorrow, there must be no more political rancour. We should all unite and face the task of rescuing the economy, especially the Naira and undoing the damage the previous administration did.

“We cannot be in election mode forever. Governing mode must now begin in earnest. We can resume partisanship in four years. From tomorrow, our squabbles must no longer be with each other but against insecurity, criminality, economic hardship and disunity.”
