In every episode of The Real Housewives of Lagos, one element you can’t miss is Chioma’s sense of style, which is why it was not surprising that she earned over 15 million naira from her yard sale, which was organised as a way to generate funds for her foundation, Good Way Foundation.

“I have a charity called the Good Way Foundation, which is self-funded. If I don’t have money for charity, the charity does not have money, and it’s not sustainable. There are people I’m actually committed to,” she told Netng in an exclusive interview discussing her new venture.

Chioma Ikokwu had organised a yard sale on the third episode of The Real Housewives of Lagos, where guests were to bid for her fashion pieces, with the starting price being 250,000 naira. On the show, she mentioned that all the funds generated from the sale will be donated to the Good Way Foundation.

However, she disclosed that beyond being a woman who loves fashion and giving, she intends to be a fashion entrepreneur considering the influence she currently has in the industry.

“I cannot be a fashion girlie for the rest of my life that will make me a big idiot when I’m making designers earn like 10s of millions, 100s of millions, and I know this because some of them are actually my friends. I see their books. And then they’re like, because of this outfit you wore, I just made 70 million last week,” she said.

However, she had stalled on the decision because she believed she was not in the space to embark on a business mission, considering she currently runs Good Hair alongside her co-founder and friend, Kika Osunde.

“They’ve been pushing me to come into the business of fashion for like years. They’re like let’s start a collaboration. I’ve just been stalling because whatever I do, I love to do it well. So, If I’m not mentally prepared, and physically and financially ready to embark on a business mission, I don’t do it,” she added.

With ‘Chioma’s Closet,’ she intends to give people the opportunity to shop the luxury pieces she has in her wardrobe while creating exclusive collaborative fashion pieces with other designers.

“It’s something I’ve been wanting to launch for a very long time. I thought let me do it on the show to get maximum visibility for the new business that I’m literally about to launch, which is Chioma’s closet where people can actually shop things in my closet,” she told Netng.

Since The Real Housewives of Lagos premiered its first episode, Chioma Ikokwu has made it a mission for every scene of hers to be an iconic fashion moment on the show. It’s no different from the second season, as her Valentino ensemble for the very first episode of the season had people talking about her sense of style.
