FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted that the club is solidly behind the club’s coach Xavi Hernández.
Xavi is a product of FC Barcelona academy and played the best of his club professional career at the club from 1998 to 2015.
Before he left the club, he scored 85 goals in 767 games in all competitions even though he played as a midfielder.
Xavi helped the club to win a total of 25 major titles including four UEFA Champions League, and eight La Liga titles before he left for Al Sadd Sports Club in Qatar where he retired and started his coaching career.
He returned to FC Barcelona as a manager in 2021 and won La Liga and Supercopa de España during the 2022-2023 season.
However, this season has not been rosy for Xavi and his boys as they are currently sitting in the 3rd spot on the league table with 30 points in 13 games, four points below first-placed Girona, and two points behind Real Madrid.
Unlike last season in which FC Barcelona failed to progress beyond the group stage in the Champions League, they are currently topping Group H with 9 points in four games after three wins and one defeat.
Despite that, some sections of the club’s fans are not too confident in Xavi’s leadership, hence, they want him out of the club.
However, the club’s president said: “I want to make it very clear that we are totally behind Xavi”.
“It’s a pride to have Xavi as a coach for his professional and human quality”.
