It’s the year of African music domination as Nigerian stars took the spotlight on the newly-released Billboard year-end chart, with Rema’s hit single ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez leading the pack.
The chart, unveiled on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, showcases the top Hot 100 songs, and ‘Calm Down’ secured an impressive position at number 6. Rema’s album ‘Raves & Roses’ also claimed the 3rd spot on the World Albums chart. Furthermore, ‘Calm Down’ reached number 2 on both the Global 200 and Global Exclusive U.S Songs chart.
Other Nigerian acts like Tems, Burna Boy, Ckay, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, and Oxlade made their mark by charting their respective hit singles of the year on the final Billboard U.S African Songs Chart, with Rema topping the list.
This remarkable feat marks Rema’s debut year on the year-end chart, following the presence of Nigerian acts like Ckay, Tems, and Wizkid in the 2022 version of the chart with their hit singles ‘Love Nwantiti,’ ‘Essence,’ and ‘Wait For U.’
