Western Australia's attorney general has promised to explore a national domestic violence register after a much-loved WA barrister was the victim of an alleged murder.
Alice McShera, 34, was found dead in Perth's Crown Towers in Burswood about 11am on Monday with serious head injuries believed to be caused by a blunt instrument.
McShera was allegedly murdered by father-of-one Cameron John Pearson.
A database would make public information about family violence offenders across Australia.
"It would have to be national and we would work with the police and other states to look for any opportunity to suppress DV… so of course we will have a look at this," state's attorney general John Quigley said on Wednesday.
McShera is the 58th woman allegedly killed in a domestic violence incident in Australia this year.
WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said one murder was too many.
"Its not confined to WA, we have seen an increase in DV across the world and Australia," Blanch said.
It is believed McShera and Pearson had been in a domestic relationship since January.
Emergency services found Pearson in the room with what police allege were serious self-inflicted injuries.
The 42-year-old from Bibra Lake was arrested and taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment and discharged later in the day after medical staff reported he was in a stable condition.
He was later charged with murder.
McShera's father told 9News she was "a beautiful, much-loved girl who will be deeply missed".
