Teni is ready to kickstart a new era in her musical career two years after she released her debut album ‘Wondaland.’ She revealed that her sophomore album, ‘Tears of the Sun,’ will be released under her new record label, ‘Sugar Mummy Records.’
During a press briefing on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, Teni emphasised that her transition from Dr Dolors entertainment has changed her approach to music, as making timeless music has become her primary focus.
“I’m proud of myself, seeing how much I have accomplished. I simply want to create music that will outlast me, music that is not just for the moment. That’s the type of music I want to make, and that’s the kind of artist I am. I’m not a timeframe artist. I’m a forever artist, and it reminds me that I’m strong,” she revealed.
Changing her sound was crucial for her, especially considering that her last album did not receive great reviews from critics. According to her, being true to herself, researching, and putting out music about her experiences is the most natural way for her to release music, a method she applied in creating this album.
“I don’t care even more now; I just want to make music because, before fame, before everything, I just wanted to sing. It was about nothing else but the music, and for this album, that’s why I went there,” she added.
From writing songs about a life-threatening surgery she underwent to save her vocal cords, to a song expressing her gratitude to God for growth, and a song detailing how she almost got kidnapped while performing on stage at Buguma, Rivers state, she poured her heart into the album.
The 16-track album is scheduled to be released on Friday, November 17, 2023.
