Multi-award winning Nigerian star, Adedeji ‘Davido’ Adeleke, has bagged three awards at the Net Honours 2023. The ‘Dami Duro’ singer won all the three categories he was nominated for; Most Popular Male Musician, Most Searched and Most Popular Fandom ( Music).
Announcing the winner on Friday, December 22, 2023, Davido beat Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema to emerge as the winner of the Most Popular Male Musician, winning it for the second year running. After a competitive voting process, Davido’s 30 BG won the Most Popular Fandom (Music) by beating Wizkid’s “Wizkid FC,” Burna Boy’s “Outsiders,” Tiwa Savage’s “Savage Soldiers,” and Rema’s “Ravers” to the award. Additionally, Davido was awarded as the Most Searched for NET Honours Class of 2023.
Since he released his breakout single ‘Dami Duro’ in 2011, Davido has consistently released hit songs that propelled him into international recognition. His fourth studio album, released on March 31, 2023, after a five-month hiatus following the death of his son Ifeanayi, received three nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for “Unavailable,” “Feel,” and his fourth studio album “Timeless.” It marked Davido’s first nominations at the Grammy Awards.
Recently, in a post on social media, Davido expressed profound gratitude for what he dubbed as his most successful year in the music industry since the inception of his professional career in 2023. He expressed deep appreciation to God, family, and his loyal fanbase for their unwavering support throughout the year.
As the president of 30BG, Davido enjoys immense popularity among Nigerian music lovers, with his fandom always solidly behind the star.
Aside from music, Davido is a cultural ambassador for Nigeria and a prominent voice for human rights in Africa, known for championing good governance and helping the less privileged. In July 2023, Davido donated over N237 million to 424 orphanage homes across Nigeria.
