Following the sudden passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu early Wednesday morning, December 27th, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the governor of Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa was sworn in at the governor’s office Alagbaka in Akure by the state’s chief judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola.
Present at the ceremony were the Speaker of the state House of Assembly Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, members of the assembly, the secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu and the state chairman of the ruling party APC, Ade Adetimehin.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described the death of Rotimi Akeredolu as unfortunate and promised to continue with his projects and policies.
Aiyedatiwa said Akeredolu’s death was a devastating shock to the people of the state and Nigeria at large.
Others who spoke with newsmen said the people of South West will be eternally grateful to him for the establishment of Amotekun, which has reduced the menace of banditry, kidnapping and other criminality in the region and called for peace among politicians in the state.
During his swearing in, he promised to place the people first in any decision he makes.
“I want to assure the people of Ondo State that under my watch, this administration shall continue to advance the welfare of the people.”
