A man has been charged after he allegedly stomped on another man's head eight times in Melbourne's north-west.
Disturbing footage of the alleged attack has emerged showing a 34-year-old being assaulted at the corner of Alfrieda Street and Main Road West in St Albans about 9.45pm on Wednesday.
The confrontation lasted two minutes before the victim was dragged, unconscious, into a gutter in front of horrified bystanders.

The vicious attack stopped when a driver intervened by punching him until he stopped.
The victim from Altona was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Victoria Police is working to determine if it was a random attack or if the men were known to each other.

Local workers said violence in the St Albans area was escalating and they feared for their security.
"It's really upsetting," a local trader told 9News.
"This kind of thing happens quite often around this area.
"Sometimes at night, we don't feel safe at all when we see certain types of people."
The 26-year-old man from Kings Park was arrested and charged with affray and drug possession.
He will face court here in Sunshine Magistrates' Court next Thursday.
