A mother of two was allegedly randomly stabbed to death by a stranger at a real estate agency, leaving Adelaide’s community in shock.

Julie Seed, 38, was allegedly randomly attacked by a man who had been released from psychiatric care two days earlier, while she was working at the agency on Lydia Street in Plympton at 3.40pm yesterday.

Her colleague, Susan Scardigno, was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries but is now in a stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery overnight.

Shaun Michaels Dunk, 30, was allegedly armed with a hammer and a knife during the attack.

Dunk has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Friend of Seed, Cathy Black said everyone was still in shock and couldn’t believe what had happened to the Morphett Vale mother of two.

“She just found everything that she always wanted,” Black said.”She’s got a beautiful family, beautiful home, fiancée… she just got her dream job and then this happens.”

South Australia Police alleged Dunk was wandering along Anzac Highway and nearby streets for some time before the attack.

Once it was over he allegedly dropped his weapons and was calmly arrested outside of the agency.

In addition to the murder investigation, the state’s chief psychiatrist John Brayley has launched an urgent inquiry into Dunk’s release from the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The real estate agency’s director said they were an all-girl team and were like family to each other.

Dunk appeared before Adelaide Magistrates Court today and is now in mental health care in custody.
