A Melbourne teenager has wrangled with an alleged burglar, holding him down before police arrived.
The 19-year-old was woken around 4.30am by his mum's screams and ran into her room, only to see a masked intruder running out of their High Street apartment in Preston.
"[She was] just screaming. I low-key thought she found a massive rat or something," Julian told 9News.

"I jumped up, got outta bed straight away. I saw this guy dressed in black run out of the apartment – all black, gloves, ski mask. All black."
The apprentice carpenter managed to wrangle the alleged thief, who had allegedly stolen his mum's phone and wallet, holding him down until police arrived.
"I just did what I had to do," he told 9News.
Julian's mum told 9News she thought her cat was on her bed but when she tried to push it aside she realised it wasn't her pet but a masked intruder.
"Blessed he didn't have a knife, bless he didn't hurt my mum. It wasn't a fun feeling," Julian said.
A 31-year-old man, Mohamed Ali from Thornbury, was arrested at the scene.
He's been charged with several offences, including aggravated burglary, theft, five counts of handling stolen goods, theft from motor vehicle, and negligently dealing with the proceeds of crime.
Ali appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court today where he was denied bail.
