A bushfire burning out-of-control in the New South Wales town of Narrabri has been downgraded, with residents told to monitor conditions.
The New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS) said the fire broke containment lines yesterday afternoon, following days of intense heat.
The fire within the Pilliga Forest, earlier reached an emergency level after burning more than 64,700 hectares.

The RFS has warned the fire is still burning in the area of Terra Delba Road, Wesport Road and the Newell Highway.
About 68 firefighters and multiple aircraft are working to contain the blaze, which is burning in a north-easterly direction towards the Newell Highway.

The Newell Highway remains closed, with heavy smoke is impacting the highway.
The RFS said the fire is not currently threatening properties.
Narrabri is located about 521 kilometres north-west of Sydney.
