A prominent Adelaide doctor is fighting for life after he was alleged attacked in his own home during a home invasion.
Michael Yung, a leading paediatrician at Adelaide's Women's and Children's Hospital, was allegedly attacked by intruders in his home on James Street in Gilberton about 4.20am.
9News understands Yung underwent surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital this afternoon, where he remains in a critical condition.

Neighbours woke to what they believed was someone breaking into the 61-year-old's property.
A 30-year-old man who also lives at the property wasn't injured.
Emergency services called to reports of a break in found Yung with life-threatening injuries.

Police believe multiple offenders were involved in the attack.
"Police searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects," South Australia Police said in a statement.
"Major Crime Detectives, Eastern District Detectives and patrol officers have been actively assisting with the investigation throughout the day.
"Specialist Forensic officers have been examining the scene and will continue into the night."
Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage between 3.30am and 5am James Street and Nottage Terrace at Gilberton to contact them.
