Edmonton police detectives are looking to identify a man wanted in connection to a series of armed robberies and assaults that took place last week.

In a Friday news release, city police said they are investigating five separate incidents that occurred on Jan. 8 and 9 that they believe were committed by the same suspect.

Police cite two commercial robberies in the city’s north and west end along with a carjacking in the Westmount neighbourhood, an assault at one west Edmonton bank and an attempted fraud at another.

During one of the events, police say the suspect was seen driving a Green VW Jetta sedan, which they believe may be borrowed or stolen. Police said they believe the crime spree will continue, and that the suspect is still driving the Jetta.

Police say the man is believed to be armed with a firearm, and describe him as a Black man, aged 35 to 45 years and standing approximately six-feet tall.
