Forensic officers were observed examining the crime scene.

A small trail of blood could be seen on the road.

A black Mercedes AMG was stopped about a metre away from the man's body.

No arrests have yet been made.

"Homicide Squad are actively engaging with anyone that was at the house at the aggravated burglary," Inspector Carrie Kohler said.

Kohler said it was a tragic set of circumstances for the community and the victim's family.

"I want to reassure the public that we have increased our presence within the community and we will continue to do so," she said.

"Our thoughts are with not only family, friends, and the community."

Police appealed for any information or CCTV footage that could assist their inquiries.

"Please get in contact with us," Kohler said.

The coroner's office has been notified.
