Rema Bags 5 Nominations At iHeart Radio Music Awards

Rema is the most nominated African act at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, with five nominations in three major categories. The music star was nominated alongside Burna Boy, Tems, Tyla and Wizkid in the Best African Music Artist category.

iHeartRadio released its nominee list on Thursday, January 18, 2024, with Taylor Swift leading the nominations with nine nods. Jelly Roll, 21 Savage and SZA are close behind with eight nods.

The Mavin Records star was nominated in the Song of the Year, Best African Music Act, Best New Artiste (Pop), Best Collaboration, and Pop Song of the Year categories for his record-breaking single, ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez.

Currently, ‘Calm Down’ ft Selena Gomez is the first song by an African act to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify. It also broke the record for the longest-charting song by an African act on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2023, Rema was nominated for ‘Best Music Video (Socially Voted Category)’ for the visuals to Selena Gomez, ‘Calm Down.’ He was also nominated in the African Artist of the Year category alongside Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ckay, Fireboy DML, and Tems.

The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards are set to air live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday, April 1, from 8-10 p.m. ET.
