A man has been charged after a security guard was allegedly fatally assaulted outside a Sutherland pub early this morning.
Police were called to Royal Hotel Sutherland on East Parade in Sutherland, after the security guard was attacked around 2am today, and found the security guard unconscious.
Officers were told he was allegedly punched in the head by a patron after he was requested to leave the hotel.

Police performed CPR on the security guard before he was treated by paramedics, but he died at the scene.
The man hasn't been formally identified but is believed to be in his 30s.
A crime scene was established and an investigation was underway, leading to the arrest of a 31-year-old man.
He has now been charged with assault occasioning death and was refused bail to face Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.
Royal Hotel Sutherland said it was "deeply saddened" by the events that allegedly unfolded early this morning.
"The entire management and staff of the hotel extend our heartfelt condolences and stand in solidarity with the family during this difficult time," it said in a statement.
