It’s not very often that you get to see Nollywood romantic film partners maintain their onscreen chemistry offscreen – Oluchi Amajuoyi and Kingsley Nwachukwu showed great teamwork as they both spoke animatedly about Cheta M, a Showmax Original series in which they play lead.
“I just feel like the magic was mostly two people ready to give their all because we were ready to give everything into making sure that our characters came to life,” the leads told Netng at the official launch of the New Showmax.
Cheta M explores the love story between Adanna and Nnanna, young lovers who battle the spiritual and political forces in their way. The leads of the epic drama promised that the show will shock viewers as it explores themes of chaos and love.
“We broke every limiting barrier there was. We made sure that we brought out every emotion that we could possibly find inside of us,” Oluchi Amajuoyi disclosed as she detailed what it took them as leads to deliver the true intent of the story.
For them, it was essential to deliver the story and ensure that their acting and portrayal do justice to the work the writers have put into crafting their characters. She added, “We said we’re going to give our best, and that’s what we did, and that’s why we have great chemistry.”
James Omokwe, Cheta M’s producer and director, applauded them for their efforts as he called them great performers whose chemistry had him emotional both during shooting hours and after.
“I give kudos to the guys involved in the casting. I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t deliberate. It’s a situation where you find two people, and they are great performers. When they come together, they give you the best chemistry ever. One of the best things I loved was Adanna and Nnanna’s chemistry. I’ll be shooting on set, and I’ll be smiling,” he revealed.
In a story that borders on young love and the challenges they face, James Omokwe disclosed that every emotion was portrayed to its full extent and was as believable as ever. He credited the actors for their performance.
“It’s not even chemistry when there is love. It’s when there is hatred, there is hatred, when there is chaos, there is chaos, there are scenes I’ve shot that I’m crying. There are scenes I have watched, and I’m crying,” he added.
On the other hand, for Oluchi Amajuoyi and Kingsley Nwachukwu, Cheta M is their baby – A project they nurtured and hold dear to their hearts.
Cheta M is showing exclusively on Showmax, with new episodes showing weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
