Security vision shows Kizenga and her cousin walking along Walderton Avenue in Balga, in Perth's north, around 8pm last night.

Just 100 metres down the street, outside Balga Primary School, she was allegedly stabbed by a man.

Residents rushed to her side, trying to save her life. A pair of socks was used to stem the bleeding.

Witnesses say she was with another woman who was "crying and screaming," as locals rushed to try and save her life.

"She was very bad, they were working on her and that, and her friend was screaming and crying and everything, it was very horrible to see," one witness, Lisa, said.

Paramedics rushed her to Royal Perth Hospital, where she died.

Members of the public also chased down the alleged attacker, apprehending him before police swooped.

Another witness, Jody, said they made the man drop the knife.

"With a baseball bat they knocked it out of his hand cause they were quite fearful as well," she said.

Today, West Australian Police called the attack "violent and completely unprovoked."

"We don't have a motive for that at this time," Detective Sergeant Katharine Venn said.

"We believe the other woman and the suspect may be known to each other.

"Everyone deserves to be able to walk safely on our streets and we extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the woman who passed away."
