Qantas has confirmed it is finalising a major change to its frequent flyer scheme, with members tipped to be able to book more flights with less points.
The airline is rumoured to be changing the program so that one frequent flyer point can be converted to one cent for economy flights under a new membership tier, sources told the Australian Financial Review.
Qantas has remained tight-lipped about the expected change, but told 9news.com.au it was working through improvements to address demand for "redeeming points for flights at the times (members) most want to fly".

"It's a significant investment that will deliver great value for members, but it also makes sense for the program and our partners," a Qantas spokesperson said.
The value of one frequent flyer point currently varies depending on how the points are redeemed.
There are currently two ways to buy flights with the points – through Classic Flight Rewards or through Points Pay Plus.

Members can either pay a set number of points for a flight under the Classic Flight Rewards or have the airfare price converted to points under Points Pay Plus.
9News.com.au understands the upcoming change will be in addition to the Classic Flight Reward program, which will not see any changes to its value or seat availability.
Qantas has recently invested $50 million in its loyalty program this year to add more seats to its existing Classic Rewards program, according to its half-year results.
