Not content with a strong share of the flagship smartphone market, Samsung has today announced two new mid-priced smartphones for Australia – the latest generation of their A Series smartphones which offer quality features are more affordable prices.
Important at a time of rising costs for Aussie families, these new Samsung Galaxy A series smartphones are designed to feature core technologies carried down over the years from the premium Samsung range, but at prices designed for those keen to buy outright, own their phone and take advantage of strong SIM only mobile plan deals.
The Samsung Galaxy A35 will retail for $549 while the Galaxy A55 lands here at $699. These devices are half the price or more than the premium Galaxy S Series Samsung announced just two months ago.
Both offering Full HD Super AMOLED displays at 6.6 inches, they have a strong modern design, with the A55 featuring a more premium metallic finish.
Both have advanced cameras offering better low-light performance, while Samsung has put an emphasis this year on privacy and security, introducing their Knox Vault solution for users at these price points.
Knox Vault is a secure chip on the device where key information like passwords and PIN codes are kept, only accessible to a user who can unlock the phone – securing your personal information if your device is lost or stolen.

While somewhat insignificant to most average users, these security and privacy features are incredibly important in the battle against Apple's market dominance, a company which prides itself on privacy and device security claims.
"With the Galaxy A series, we are expanding our latest technologies to a wider audience so that more people can benefit from them," Samsung's president of mobile experience TM Roh said.
"We are excited to open up even more possibilities on the Galaxy A series this year, including offering Samsung Knox Vault for the first time on this lineup. We're proud to enable Galaxy A series users to safely and reliably enjoy outstanding mobile experiences."
The new Samsung Galaxy A55 comes in Awesome Navy – a dark blue – and Lilac, while the A35 comes in the same Dark Blue and a very fresh looking Awesome Ice Blue.
The A35 retails for $549, while the A55 is launching at $699. Both are available from March 25.
