Veteran Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced that her new film ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ will be released this December.
Funke Akindele made this known on her social media accounts on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. “Been long you saw Jenifa!!!!,”she wrote.
Her caption hints at a sequel to her popular 2015 franchise,Jenifa, a funny character from the town of Aiyetoro who travelled to the city in pursuit of greener pastures.
The Jenifa franchise started in 2008 when the Nigerian comedy film ‘Jenifa’ directed by Funke Akindele, was released, then as a follow-up of ‘Return of Jenifa’ in 2011.
She has proceeded to make further movie productions under Jenifa’s Franchise, such as Jenifa’s Diary in 2015, Aiyetoro Town in 2019 and Jenifa on Lockdown in 2021.
Since the release of the last installation of Jenifa, Funke Akindele has broken many records and produced critically acclaimed films such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga( 2020), Battle on Buka Street(2022), She Must Be Obeyed(2022), A Tribe Of Judah(2023).
