Saturday’s letters: UCP’s Bill 20 would smash pillar of democracy

Independent local democracy has always been a cornerstone of Albertan values. Our communities are unique in their interests and for that reason, we have treasured the independence of our municipal governments. Bill 20 goes against those principles and the opinions of the Albertan public, the ones we shared with the UCP when they toyed with these ideas under Jason Kenney, and yet the UCP is charging forward in its efforts to seize as much control over power in this province as it can.
