A 35-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing a child from a primary school in Melbourne's inner suburbs today.
Police allege the woman walked into the school on George Street in Fitzroy and took a five-year-old girl at about 9am.
The woman walked with the child to Atherton Gardens on Brunswick Street, before they were spotted by a member of the public about 9.40am, detectives said.

Police were notified and the woman was arrested at the scene.
The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment.
The woman is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
