A man has escaped a car wreckage with minor injuries after a horror crash at a roundabout in Adelaide this morning.

Emergency services were called to Britannia Roundabout about 2am after a Toyota station wagon lost control and crashed into a pedestrian island.

The car became airborne and smashed into a large gum tree at the centre of the roundabout, causing the car to flip and roll.
