From the first season of Bridgerton, where we were introduced to Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset’s relationship to the most recent, where Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton (Polin) ignite their romance, the franchise has told some of the most awe-striking and chemistry shattering stories in television history.
As the polarising conversation on Polin’s relationships takes the front row in discussion across the internet pending the release of the show’s second part in June, we rank the main character Bridgerton couples whose chemistry and stories had us wishing we were in love.

Daphne Bridgerton & Simon Bassett
Daphne and Simon’s relationship was our introduction to the Bridgerton series, and it was a befitting one. With every word, look, and touch on the dance floor and beyond, the couple’s chemistry shined through. They are the perfect TV depiction of a fake relationship trope that led to both parties falling irrevocably in love with each other.
Although some of the franchise’s fans believe Daphne’s pregnancy trick ruined the nature of the Duke and Duchess’s relationship, the couple still stand as one of the public’s favourite Bridgerton couples, and rightly so.
Favourite Line: “I am tired of pretending. And I cannot continue acting as if I. As if I do not love you. Because I do. I love all of you. Even the parts that you believe are too dark and too shameful. Every scar. Every flaw. Every imperfection. I love you.” – Daphne Bridgerton

George III & Queen Charlotte
King George and Queen Charlotte found love in chaos. That was the beauty of their story. In between George trying every means to find a cure to his mental illness and Charlotte being in the dark for the most part, Shonda Rhimes built a beautiful story riddled with pain but showcased the not-so-rosy part of love.
When Queen Charlotte said, ‘I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth. I will tell you where you are. Do you love me?!!’ The couple’s confession and acceptance of each other’s pain made their story an instant favourite.
Favourite Line: ‘I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth. I will tell you where you are. Do you love me?!!’ – Queen Charlotte

Kate Sharma & Anthony Bridgerton
Most people will rank Kathony’s chemistry atop the previous couples. However, some of us still can’t get past how hurt Edwina Sharma was by the relationship, even though there was resistance on Kate’s part.
Regardless, their chemistry was undeniable. Their sexual tension was like no other, and the yearning they both felt for each other was unquestionable.
Favourite Line: “You are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires.” — Lord Anthony Bridgerton

Theo Sharp & Eloise Bridgerton
There was only one time when Eloise showed romantic interest in a man, and it was with Theo Sharp, but it didn’t start as a romantic relationship. With a more believable enemies-to-lovers storyline, Eloise finds Theo Sharp on her hunt for Lady Whistledown, and their jabs-turned-interest marked the beginning of a love affair. Or so we thought.
Unlike most relationships in Bridgerton, there was no sexual relationship between the two. Their chemistry and puppy love shined in their conversations. At least, that was how it was until Lady Whistledown’s (Penelope) gossip cut short the relationship.
Favourite Line: “What I am failing to say is that often, when I read something new or interesting or provoking, it is you who crosses my mind. It is you I would like to speak with about those thoughts” – Eloise Bridgerton

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton
Most people can not get past the fact that Colin publicly mocked Penelope and the idea of courting her with a group of friends at the finale of season two, and to be honest, I agree. Although they are great friends who offer great advice to each other, they should have just stayed friends.
In season three, we get to see how their chemistry blossoms. However, within the context of how Colin has treated her over the seasons, their relationship doesn’t generate the same excitement as the other couple’s relationship does.
Favourite Line: “I have spent so long trying to feel less, trying to be the kind of man society expects me to be. And for a moment, I thought I had succeeded. But these past few weeks have been full of confounding feelings. Feelings like a total inability to stop thinking about you. About that kiss. Feelings like dreaming of you when I’m asleep. And in fact, preferring sleep because that is where I might find you. A feeling that is like torture, but one which I cannot, will not, do not want to give up.” — Colin Bridgerton.
