LONDON — Police will take no further action against Labour Deputy Leader Angela Rayner after an investigation into whether she gave false information to the Electoral Commission about her primary residence before she was an MP.
Greater Manchester Police launched its probe earlier this year after a complaint from Tory MP James Daly.
Rayner strongly rejected the allegations, which centered on her former council house in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
In a statement Tuesday the force said it carried out “a thorough, carefully considered and proportionate investigation” and had “concluded that no further police action will be taken.”
Rayner had been facing questions over whether she should have paid capital gains tax on the 2015 sale of her former home and whether it was her primary residence.
