Nothing can separate Donald Trump from the love of Viktor Orbán.
The Hungarian prime minister backed Trump on Friday morning after the former U.S. president was found guilty on 34 counts in a criminal trial held in New York City.
Trump became the first U.S. ex-president to be convicted of a crime when a jury found him guilty of falsifying documents to cover up a hush money payment to a porn star ahead of the 2016 election.
Despite the verdict, Orbán referred to his bestie Trump as a “man of honour.”
“As President, he always put America first, he commanded respect around the world and used this respect to build peace,” Orbán said on X, adding that the American people will “make their verdict this November.”
Right-wing figurehead Orbán has long been one of Trump’s closest allies in Europe, and in March he again endorsed the Republican candidate’s bid to return to the White House after the Nov. 5 presidential election.
Support for Trump also came from far-right Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, who expressed “solidarity and full support” for the now convicted felon.
Trump was a “victim of judicial harassment” brought on by the “the weaponization of the justice system by the left,” claimed Salvini, who is also head of the far-right League party.
