The videos of the EPS-led clearance of student protesters at the University of Alberta are stomach-churning to watch. In particular, watching an officer enthusiastically take his baton, repeatedly, to a student on the ground, is horrendous. In all of the footage, it’s clear that there was no violence on the side of the student protesters; many of them were on the ground, or actively backing away from the heavily armoured police.
