In celebration of ten years of excellence, the AMVCAs honoured African storytellers for their work in the past year, and one of the biggest winners of the night was the cast and crew of the BB Sasore film, ‘Breath of Life.’
Eku Edewor, the Co-producer of Breath of Life, revealed in an exclusive interview with Netng at the tenth edition of the AMVCAs that it was essential for the production team to make a statement with their work as Nigerian filmmakers.
“We decided as a team that we wanted to make the best film that we can make, and that’s what we set out to do. It was important for us to tell a story that we could execute at the level we wanted to execute it at,” she told Netng.
The producer, who also played a role in Breath of Life, alluded to the challenges Nigerian filmmakers face as there are fewer resources to work with while making films reaching a global audience.
BB Sasore, the director and co-producer behind Breath of Life, also attested to these challenges as he told Netng that although there were challenges, being awarded at the AMVCAs made it all worth it.
Breath of Life tells the story of Timi, a former pastor who has lost his faith and Elijah, an unemployed graduate on his journey to self-discovery. In this drama, Elijah is riddled with the challenge of navigating a household filled with loss.
